Yesterday, I officially became a resident of Tennessee...again. I have a TN driver's license to prove it! This small but significant act somehow rooted me in where I am today. Yes, I live here now. Being back in Tennessee these four months has been a bit surreal. Memories have come flooding back of things I haven't thought of in so long... It's funny how memories can lay dormant in the mind until something is suddenly awakened. Nothing like moving back home to stir up the pot, I guess!  Life has certainly changed these 10.5 years I've been away. And I find myself learning how to pave a way in a place that is so familiar yet foreign to me in...

Evening Blossoms

One night in early spring last year, we visited our neighborhood garden. While all the other floral and fauna still lie dormant and asleep, a lone magnolia tree had bloomed in the evening shade. There was something so striking about this new beauty juxtaposed with the cold evening. We knew we had to capture it. Happy New Year!!

We hope your holiday season has been filled with love. As the New Year approaches, we have been doing lots of cleaning, sorting and getting rid of stuff. This thorough kind of clean up is customary in Japan at year's end. The philosophy behind the clean up is that tidying up and getting rid of what is no longer needed allows space for the new to unfold.    I love how this can be applied not just to our physical surroundings, but in all aspects of our life that may need renewal.
